The design of the Indigo Delicatessen at Palladium was conceptualized to subvert the trappings of its mall context and the repetitive manifestation of most branded retail architecture.© Sameep Padora Associates
The design is an insert into the space, on one hand reverential to its container and on the other
completely obliterating its rigid geometries.© Sameep Padora Associates
It is quasi-dome, quasi-surface, rejecting the formal
structure of either as a pure hybrid that networks the structural abilities of both.© Sameep Padora Associates
The warmth and textured roughness of the plywood armature is set up against the slickness from
copper details that are built in to the retail sections.© Sameep Padora Associates
The idea is thus to monologue the design intervention as a background for the variance of the multitude
products.© Sameep Padora Associates
The construction process was a design-build effort using digital parametric tools for design process,
documentation and eventually CNC routing and assemblage.© Sameep Padora Associates
The assemblage is hung off the RCC slab
with regularly spaced threaded Mild steel rods fixed onto a double thick vertical plywood panel that
allows for leveling the entire armature through the length of the space.© Sameep Padora Associates
