Sculptures / Sibylle Pasche

Stone is a material that has been used for thousands of years as resistant will material. It was precisely because of his resistance to the Stone Age to the Greeks and Romans, from the Renaissance through all epochs used to modernity in all cultures in the arts as well as in everyday life.

Especially now, in a time of fast-paced, where the figures in the arts like lighter, industrially made and usually less resistant materials are used, as stone has 'classic' and timeless material for me a very special appeal. I like the consistency and the related aspect of durability, especially since this the 'Zeitgeist' contradicts.

Our society is fast-changing and constant change of things marked, which can cause some disorientation. My sculptures are in their 'anti-functionality' in contrast, clearly defined fixed points, which by their earthy presence may just be what they are, namely designed matter, and proportion, volume, rhythm, structure, surface tension and aesthetics are at the center .

Deutsch: Stein ist ein Material, das seit Jahrtausenden als widerstandskräftiger Werkstoff gebraucht wird. Es wurde gerade seiner Beständigkeit wegen von der Steinzeit bis zu den Griechen und Römern, von der Renaissance durch alle Epochen hindurch bis in die Moderne in allen Kulturen in der Kunst sowie im Alltag eingesetzt.

Gerade jetzt, in einer Zeit der Schnelllebigkeit, wo auch beim Gestalten in der Kunst gerne leichtere, industriell angefertigte und meist weniger beständige Materialien verwendet werden, hat Stein als 'klassisches' und zeitloses Material für mich einen ganz besonderen Reiz. Ich mag die Beständigkeit und den damit verbundenen Aspekt der Langlebigkeit, gerade weil dies dem 'Zeitgeist' widerspricht.

Unsere Gesellschaft ist vom schnellen Wandel und steten Wechsel der Dinge geprägt, was eine gewisse Orientierungslosigkeit auslösen kann. Meine Skulpturen sind in ihrer 'Anti-Funktionalität' im Gegensatz dazu klar definierte Fixpunkte, die durch ihre erdverbundene Präsenz einfach das sein dürfen, was sie sind, nämlich gestaltete Materie, wobei Proportion, Volumen, Rhythmus, Struktur, Oberflächenspannung und Ästhetik im Zentrum stehen.
