The TOTEMENT / PAPER architectural bureau was founded in 2006. Founders: Levon Ayrapetov and Valeria Preobrazhenskaya. The bureau includes 10 architects, 3 design engineers, 2 interior designers, 1 designer-visualizer. The bureau is doing its own work on the development of architectural and constructive sections of design and working documentation. Develops interiors, carries out the function of the general designer. Specialization of the bureau: The main specificity of the work of the bureau is manifested in objects that require non-standard solutions, an individual approach and having an imagination component. This quality was manifested in the implementation of the Pavilion of the Russian Federation at Expo 2010 in Shanghai, as well as in the development of the «Alliance 1892» Wine and Brandy Distillery Museum & Warehouse in the Kaliningrad region. The team has experience in working with houses of varying complexity ranging from 1500 to 2500 square meters, the key to success of which is the accumulated rich experience of communication with customers and a highly professional approach.

Airport “Southern” in Rostov region / TOTEMENT/PAPER

The main goal of our design is to create an integral unity, an ensemble with a public park as a central core.

Technogenic landscape develops around the park and accompanies passenger with comfort environment that minimizes amount of obstacles on the way from departure area to the moment of the airplane to take off.

Thereby, considering the general plan scheme, we propose rational, smart and comfortable scheme for passenger traffic by linking all the possible access points of automobile transportation and high-speed trains, as well as outlining the main traffic diagram of passengers access, arriving and leaving the airport.

All the traffic arteries merge into clear and rational diagram and create the image of the technically ideal machine with the nature park in its heart -the pearl of the whole ensemble.

Park reaches the airport building and creates the unity of two withstanding substances – the Air and the Earth.

Air terminal is the last ground point for passenger before take off, that`s why its design is sharp, stable and strong, all together symbolizing the Earth.

Passenger is a part of the aircrew; he arrives here to departure, thus the pattern of his movements is streamlined, flexible and reminds of the turbulent flows of the air.

Vivid and lively Park, the hallmark of the air terminal, comes along with the passenger till the final border point, situated in between the Air and the Earth.

Gallery, leading out of the aeroexpress station, splits into flows of passengers to departure and flows of those, who just arrived and leaves the airport.

Gallery flows down and breaks by the Park , circumflexing it from both sides.

Public space with cafes, shops, recreation areas, etc.

is situated inside the park.

Gallery ends with primary inspection point and all necessary facilities like information points, cafes and shops are situated in a compact way.

The main facade of the airport appears to be a quintessence of the formal design solutions, flowing from the exterior to the interior.

Muted color shades; malleable, elastic curves; permanent changes along with the park greenery all together create a vital environment of tranquility, reliance in the perfection of high technology and eternal beauty of the nature.
